1. Who is this programme for?
This programme is specially designed for:
- Christians who want counselling training that
is integrated with theology.
- Mid-lifers who are contemplating a career
switch to the counselling profession.
- Those with theological degrees but wanting
to specialize in counselling.
- Church or lay counselors wanting more training
and foundation.

2. Is this programme for me?
If you want to become a skilled and competent
Christian Counsellor, who is theologically informed and committed
to Christian values, then this programme is for you!
This 1-year (full-time) programme will equip you
and hone your counselling skills for the purpose of serving God.
You will learn to bring together psychology, theology, counselling
theories and approaches, spiritual growth and development, clinical
counselling skills and professional counselling ethics.

3. Who are eligible for this programme?
Adults with an undergraduate degree, who are, or will be at least
21year old at commencement of the course.
If your undergraduate degree is not in the area
of theology, you need the following pre-requisite courses:
- Introduction to Theology
- Introduction to Psychology
- Old Testament Survey/Foundations
- New Testament Survey/Foundations
- Christian Ethics

4. I do not have an undergraduate degree. Can I still apply?
If you have a professional qualification equivalent to an undergraduate degree or higher, you qualify for this programme. Otherwise, if you have 10
years experience in the social work or counselling field, you may apply. You may be granted provisional entry for the first trimester.

5. I do not meet the pre-requisites. Can I apply?
Yes. You may be accepted on the condition that you agree to complete
the prerequisites or substitute courses recommended by the Dean
of SOC before you graduate. Therefore, it may take you more than
a year to complete the programme.
Also note that the tuition fee for the pre-requisite
or substitute courses are not included in the total course fee of
the programme.

6. Can I enroll for this programme without doing the internship
attachment?
Yes, you may but you will only be awarded a certificate of completion
upon completion of all course work.

7. Can I just sign up for one or two courses at a time?
Even part-time students are carefully guided to ensure that their
learning is progressive, line upon line and precept upon precept.
Students from other schools may register for theory courses but
priority placements will be given to SOC students.

8. When do I make payment for this programme?
Students are to make full payment, including the internship fee,
before commencement of the course. Students with financial challenges
may write in to request for payment to be made by installment. All
decisions will be made on a case by case basis.

9. Can I get a refund if I withdraw midway in the programme?
The refund policy of the college applies only to the course fee.
In the event of extenuating circumstances, students may write in
to appeal for refund for the internship fee by the end of first
trimester. However, all decisions will be made on a case by case
basis.
Instead of withdrawing, you may consider applying
for a stop-out period. In this case the unused course fee will be
held by the school until you resume your studies again.
Stop-out is only allowed for a maximum of 1 year.
When you resume your studies, you will have to top-up the difference
should there is an increased in course fee. Other additional fees
also apply when you resume your studies.

10. What if I cannot finish my course
within the specified period?
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the student may write
to the school to appeal for an extension period to complete the
course. However, decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
If extension is granted, the student will have to bear the financial
obligation for the extended period.

11. What if I am able to complete my coursework, but unable
to fulfill the requirements of the internship programme?
(1) You will not be awarded a full Diploma, however,
you will receive a Certificate of Completion at a Certifying Ceremony
at the end of the Course.
(2) You will be given till the end of the first trimester to make
a final decision as to whether you can carry out the full requirements
of the internship programme
(3) In the event that you have commenced the internship programme,
and are unable to complete, no refund can be given for the internship
fee.
