Thesis
A student in the Master of Divinity Program may elect to complete a
thesis component as part of their program. The thesis may only be
undertaken in the student’s final year of the program. The thesis
will be worth 18 credits and may be taken in lieu of any of the
electives.
The thesis will consist of not more 20,000 words excluding footnotes
and bibliography. It will be the result of the student’s own
authentic research, and is expected to provide evidence of a
person’s critical awareness of an area of study and show independent
ability to analyze, evaluate and provide some original insight.
Students considering this option should have a GPA of at least 3.3
and show competence in the area he wishes to study. He should submit
his request on the appropriate forms to the Post-Graduate Program
Committee. Once the request is approved, a supervisor will be
assigned and the student will have 6 months to submit the final
thesis.
