General Information

ACADEMIC LOAD AND MATRICULATION

TCA College operates on a trimester system, which revolves on a 13-week schedule. The average academic load for a full-time student is 12 to 15 credit hours per academic trimester. The school year commences from January to mid-April, May to first week in August, and end-August to last week in November.

TRANSFER OF CREDITS

TCA College accepts transfer students from other Bible schools. Students desiring to transfer credits from another school are required to submit an official transcript along with the school catalog to the Dean.

Transferred modules having fewer hours than TCA College modules will be given the value at which they are taken. Transferred modules having more hours than TCA College modules will be given the value at which TCA College offers the module.

TCA College reserves the right to accept or reject work completed at another institution. This will be determined after review of the institution’s catalog.

Up to one-third (1/3) of TCA College’s program may consist of transferred credits provided that they were obtained at an institution comparable to the College. Thus, at least two-thirds (2/3) of TCA College’s programs must be taken within the College.

DEFICIENCIES

Students who fail to meet some of the admission requirements of the College may be required to make up these deficiencies in their first year of their studies.

PROBATION

All students, except those enrolled on one-year programs are on probation for one year. During this first year, a student will need to maintain the following grade point average:

  Diploma program 2.0
  Bachelor program 2.5
  Master program 2.7

Failure to meet this minimum GPA may result in the premature termination of the student’s studies. During the probation period, the Dean may restrict the course load and module selections for weak students. Such students will be restricted in their extra-curricular activities and library study hours will be required of them.

ADD/DROP

The first 2 weeks of each school term are deemed the add / drop period. During this period, students are allowed to request to

Add a new module to their registration
Drop a module they registered for

All requests for add / drop are subject to approval of the School Dean. An administrative fee will be charged for all such requests. No record will be kept for modules dropped during this period.
For intensive modules, add / drop is only permitted on the first day of the class. No record will be kept for module dropped on the first day.
Refunds for dropped classes are dependent on the College’s policy for refunds.

EXTENSION

Students are to complete all module work as stipulated by the lecturer or written in the course syllabus. In the case of block courses, module work must be completed within 30 days from the last day of class. Application for extension to complete module work must be made to the Registrar and must be submitted by the last day of the class. S$10 fee is charged per request. Extensions may be granted up to 30 days without penalty for reasons of illness or demonstrated emergency. Extensions may be granted for other reasons (e.g. poor planning) with a penalty. The penalty would be a one third letter grade down for the module, i.e. from A to A-, etc.

FAIL

A student who fails a required module will have to retake the module. A student who fails an elective module may choose to retake the failed module or another elective in-lieu of the module.

AUDIT

Students are allowed to request to change their modules from credit to audit and vice-versa during the add / drop period. From week 3 to week 6, modules taken for credit may be changed to audit. However, changes from audit to credit are not permitted in this period. All such requests are subject to approval by the School Dean.
For intensive modules, changes from credit to audit are only permitted within the first half of the module.
After week 6, modules taken for credit can not be changed to audit.

FIELD EDUCATION

All full-time students should be involved in a specific ministry in order to fulfil ten hours of field education per week. Foreign students may be assigned to local churches for ministry exposure.
