Secondly, pastors of the larger churches interviewed said they would not call or hire someone right out of seminary unless they were a product of their own church. (Praise the Lord, these are not the case with graduates from TCA College).
The second issue is training that the Church and students need to obey God’s plan for their life. Peter Drucker in his book, Age of Discontinuity, said, "A major industry will rarely put its best brains to work on basic changes. It will rather tend to fritter away its energies on desperate efforts to keep yesterday going a little longer."
In other words, most are afraid of major, radical changes. This is where TCA College has taken a bold step of faith to look at how we train people and what we train people to do. How well have we prepared a person to walk out their God-designed destiny? Their destiny could be in the marketplace, in homes, in government, in media or in church --- but it is our job to prepare them to function wherever God places them. It could be in the marketplace or it could be in the church, or it could be in both.
The third issue is developing leaders and not managers. For many years, seminary graduates did not feel their education had provided them practical training in leadership skills. These graduates knew how to read Greek and Hebrew, but didn't have a clue about how to build and lead a staff, or read the culture of the community or city where the church was located. They had degrees but did not know how to reach their areas for Christ.
This is another reason why TCA College is expanding its programmes to include a Masters in Organisational Leadership, in cooperation with Asuza Pacific University in California, USA.
TCA College is a cutting-edge training experience to prepare you for cultural and cross-cultural leadership in the Church or in the Marketplace. Enrol now for the sessions beginning this year.
