Our first-ever Symposium held in our new Lecture
Theatre in the new Paya Lebar Campus was well attended by members of
churches, colleagues and friends from other bible colleges, alumni and
students. More than 100 participants attended the ‘Women’s Voices in
Bible and Theology’ Symposium on 19th June and we had over 220 attendees
for the ‘Breaking Free From Addiction’ Symposium on 20th June.
It was altogether an enriching time with speakers deliberating on issues
that ranged from human rights and evangelical foundational fideism on
the first day, to understanding social ills like the proliferation of
online MMORPG games amongst youngsters in today’s society on the second
day.
The College thanks all staff and students who have worked hard for the
Symposium and we look forward to organising more Symposiums in the
future that will benefit people from all walks of life.
The Chinese Seminar on Modern Trends in Old Testament Studies on 20th
June night was also a successful one. Amongst the more than 100
participants, some have even come especially from Malaysia to attend the
Seminar. Dr Daniel See was a candid speaker educated in Sheffield
University and he shared his insightful views on how to read the Old
Testament. The Seminar finished off with a lively Question and Answer
session. We will see more of such positive engagements with scholars in
the future in our new Campus.
