President’s Personal Message

2nd Trimester 2009

30 Years of Serving God

This year marks the 30th year of TCA College’s existence in fulfilling God’s purpose for us in equipping and releasing leaders into the nations. It is also a sign of maturity, a sign of reaching adulthood. In the last three decades, we have seen students coming from more than 30 nations to study with us and thereafter, sent back to the respective mission field to serve God as pastors, teachers and missionaries. We are grateful to God for the opportunity to graduate more than 550 students from our college and be part of their development as leaders in the Kingdom. As we recollect what God has done for us in the last 30 years, we stand amazed at God’s faithfulness.

As mentioned in my last President’s Message, the College’s 30th Anniversary celebration will culminate in the week of 4th to 6th September with a Conference on the 4th & 5th September and our 20th Graduation Ceremony on the 6th. Immediately after our graduation ceremony, we will be hosting our Anniversary cum Graduation Dinner over at the Summit, located on the 4th floor, Community Hub which is within our College premise. I would encourage all alumni and current students to book tables and join in the dinner celebration. It will be a grand reunion dinner for our past and current students, and friends of TCA to come together as one big TCA family. An exciting programme is planned and one of the highlights will be the honouring of the founder of TCA College. Please come and be part of this important occasion in the life of College. If you cannot join us because of other commitments, you can still contribute to the College by sponsoring tables to help offset the different costs that will be incurred for this exciting celebration.

30 Years of Academic Achievements

In the last one year, students have been telling me of the stringent academic standard of TCA College and many are feeling the increased demand from this higher academic rigour. Recently, one student council member related that she had to work harder now to gain the same grade as before. On another occasion, an adjunct lecturer, who had taught in different bible colleges, mentioned that he was pleasantly surprised by the high academic expectations of our students’ assignments. When I hear similar comments from various sources, I know that we are heading in the right direction. Given our validation with the University of Wales and our accreditation with the Asia Theological Association, we are ensuring that our students are well equipped to handle the ministry and also an excellent student of God’s Word. This cannot be compromised given the high standing needed for anyone who ministers God’s Word in the Church or the market place. We do not apologise for increasing the academic rigour and standard because we know that we are grounding our students in strong biblical foundations that will help them in their future ministries. Students will need to work even harder than before and I know that they will be grounded on a solid foundation.

Besides the increase in academic standing, we have also established ourselves as the largest Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian College in Singapore and Malaysia. Every year, we have students coming from more than 170 churches worldwide to study with us. Many have come because of our strong Pentecostal and Charismatic distinctives. We will continue to harness this distinctive and will continue to offer courses that will equip and empower our students with proper teaching in this arena. We are also investing in more resources in this area and will aim to be a resource centre for Pentecostal and Charismatic studies in this region.

TCA College has grown and matured to be a premium teaching institution that produces effective ministers and leaders who are proficient in the Word and ministry. We will continue to do our very best to ensure that God’s Word is taught and preached without compromise and our students will continue to receive the best education that will equip them to be relevant for today’s ministries.

In closing, I want to thank all of you for walking this journey with us in TCA College for the last 30 years. Without your support, we would not be where we are today. Thank you for believing in us and entrusting future workers and leaders to be educated with us.

Blessings,

Rev Wilson Teo
