I began this journey uncertain of my abilities, yet certain it was a calling I could not ignore. The road was both refining and redemptive. I was stretched, shaped, and softened — learning to listen not just with ears, but with heart. This program taught me not just skills, but how to love God's people. Along the way, I found kindred spirits and mentors who reflected God’s wisdom and love. Through every doubt and breakthrough, His grace sustained me. This chapter has been one of surrender, transformation, and obedience.

At TCA, what I enjoy most is the sense of community, with lecturers, mentors, and classmates who share knowledge and walk alongside me with encouragement, prayer, and presence. Their support has shaped me deeply, reminding me that I do not journey alone. Through experiential learning, I have learned to integrate both my strengths and vulnerabilities in how I live and relate to others. Spiritually, this journey has deepened my faith, teaching me to rely on God’s strength and remember that I am always held.

I heard God's call to pursue counseling while praying over the shocking news of the River Valley High School homicide in 2021. I sensed this was just a tip of the iceberg regarding the mental health challenges in Singapore. A month later, still hesitant, I started looking for a counseling school and was drawn to the faith-based program at TCA College. The way was wide open, and I entered by faith with trepidation. God has used the program to deal with my vulnerabilities while preparing me for my future work.

Coming to TCA has been life-changing. The courses were relevant and gave me tools I could immediately apply in counseling. What touched me most was the faculty’s heart – knowledgeable yet caring, supporting me even during my hospital leave and encouraging me through struggles. I am equally grateful to my classmates, who became a true community – always there to encourage, support, and journey alongside me. This season has shaped not just my skills, but my heart and calling.

This journey has been one of deep personal healing and sacred formation. As a missionary, I have walked with many through pain, yet I, too, carried wounds. This course gave me space to process my own story, grow in self-awareness, and rediscover Christ’s presence in brokenness. I have learned to listen more deeply, offer presence rather than solutions, and counsel from a place of grace. I thank God for His faithfulness and for shaping me into a vessel of healing, still in process, but anchored in hope.

I recall God placing a burden on my heart to help the broken and restore relationships at 21. At 30, I decided to take up this course as an act of obedience to that call – a journey of preparation and equipping. I am so thankful for this program and the wonderful lecturers, which not only equipped me with counseling tools but also deepened my relationship with myself and God. As I face my own trials, I am heartened that God can still work through my brokenness to bring healing and restoration to others.

These last four years have been paradoxically everything and nothing like I expected them to be. I thoroughly enjoyed the learning and was suitably challenged to grow personally, while the professional aspects were honed. That was expected. In the process, I discovered a community of course mates who have become friends and a team of lecturers who were personally invested in my life and those of my classmates. That was unexpected. All praise and glory to God who has provided so abundantly!

Studying my master’s in counseling here has been a gift. It stretched my skills, deepened my faith, and affirmed my calling to serve others. Surrounded by a Christ-centered community and guided by wise mentors, I grew in confidence, compassion, and purpose. This journey didn’t just prepare me for a profession; it shaped who I am and how I will serve for years to come.

I have been privileged to journey with lecturers and classmates of the same faith, and this has made a tremendous difference in learning and unlearning, particularly in this program. I'm grateful that God has ordained my steps, placing me among like-minded individuals on this same journey.

Known to be faith-based, TCA's MAC program is built on a strong academic foundation, never losing sight of professionalism and the person. We were constantly drawn into an adventure of living and re-experiencing life, re-learning and re-discovering self, re-orientating and “re-membering” our purpose. Trusting God and the process, we discovered that this program is, first and foremost, a gift to ourselves – a safe space to live, laugh, and love well – so that we, in turn, can create space for others to do the same.

I started the MAC program at TCA thinking that I was dedicating myself unto God as an act of obedience. But He surprised me with so much more. I gained a family-like community of shared faith and purpose that supported me beyond my studies. Through the reflective assignments, God ministered to me – bringing healing and wholeness. Though a work-in-progress, I trust He will continue to shape and use me to bring healing to this broken world. I’m deeply grateful for this journey. All glory to God!

I entered the MAC program wounded, weary, and unsure. Through its thoughtful structure, I rediscovered who I am and experienced a deep transformation in how I see God and His people. The faculty, with gentleness and wisdom, challenged our beliefs and helped us understand the brokenness in others through God’s eyes. The skills courses equipped us to care for wounded hearts with competence. I am now in a healthier place and look forward to bringing healing to others through what I’ve learned.

Through the MAC program, I gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that have allowed me to excel in my counseling practice. The curriculum’s emphasis on Christian values, evidence-based approaches, and multiculturalism has equipped me to serve clients with empathy and understanding. TCA’s emphasis on spiritual growth and self-reflection has deepened my faith and strengthened my ministry. I am blessed to have been trained by passionate, experienced, professional, and caring faculty.

This MA in Counseling journey has been deeply formative, shaping me emotionally, spiritually, and personally. I have learned to be present, to sit with pain, and to walk alongside others in their struggles. I entered with questions but leave with greater empathy, deeper compassion, and a renewed calling to serve the hurting. I’m grateful for the support of my lecturers, supervisors, and peers. Above all, I give glory to God for His unfailing grace and for leading me into a path shaped by love, strength, and humility.

Throughout my time in MAC, I have grown so much through self-discovery. Even though I started this course having the heart to help others, by God’s grace, I have been the one helped instead. The kindness and grace shown by the faculty and schoolmates had allowed me to be part of a community that’s so loving and caring. Though it has not been an easy journey, it is by the grace of God and through the love and support of the people around me that I have been able to finish this race.

I enjoyed the theology and Christian ethics courses, counseling skills training, and friendships with classmates. Through fieldwork and personal ministry, I learned to steward my spiritual gifts, display empathy and compassion (mercy), and grow in discernment. It was a journey of self-emptying (kenosis) unto God’s will and purposes. I thank God for His empowerment and gifts for ministry and give Him all the glory for the miraculous healing work I have witnessed while loving and serving God and others.

Learning at TCA has truly changed me. When I started my studies, I thought I was already a good communicator and simply wanted to finish the course quickly. Now, near the end, I have found a beautiful community and gained humbling skills. I have enjoyed every slow step in full submission to what God wants to bless me with. I fully believe that we will be well-equipped to serve the Body faithfully.

My time at TCA College has been rich and meaningful. I am thankful for classmates who became friends, sharing a passion for counseling and forming a supportive network. The instructors were more than teachers – they were mentors and role models. Each course helped me learn deeply, grow in self-awareness, and rely on the Holy Spirit’s leading. TCA has shaped my desire to help others into something purposeful. I entered seeing God as my Counselor and I leave seeing Him as my Teacher, guiding me to help others.

When I first started the MAC program at TCA, I was excited about this new learning journey. Over the past three years, there were ups and downs as I struggled to balance my studies with a full-time job and other commitments. The journey was both fulfilling and life-changing. Beyond acquiring knowledge, I have seen God at work in my life – bringing to light issues I needed to resolve and guiding me towards healing, Christlikeness and growth as a counselor. I have grown in both character and competence at TCA.
